Applicants should possess, or expect
shortly to obtain, an undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification, in
social sciences. Applicants should also have work or volunteer experience in
international development. Mature students, NGO workers, and junior to middle
level government officials, with experience in development, are encouraged to
apply.
Students with no work experience in
international development will need to engage in at least three months of
fieldwork with a development organization prior to enrolment. Priority is given
to applicants who have had previous work experience in development, either with
public or private sector NGOs.
Candidates who fall into one or more
of the three categories will be required to demonstrate an acceptable level of
language proficiency:

- Candidate is from a country other than New Zealand, USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada.
The TOEFL, IELTS and CU-TEP
(Chulalongkorn University Test of English Proficiency) are the only three
English proficiency tests accepted by the university. Applicants are expected
to have achieved an overall band score of at least 6.0 on the IELTS, 550 (or
the equivalent) on the paper-based TOEFL, or 550 on the CU-TEP. English tests
must be less than two years old at the time of application.
Please note that these scores,
although a minimum requirement for admission, do not guarantee successful
admission or completion of the programme. The candidate should feel comfortable
writing graduate-level academic essays and participating in class discussions
in English.
There are two stages in the
application process: 1) written application and 2) admission.
Applications are to be submitted from

October.
