2012 Korean Government Scholarship Program for International Students: Graduate Programs

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) is now accepting applications for the 2012 Korean Government Scholarship Program for Graduate Studies. I'm also under the same scholarship.This scholarship is said to be the most prestigious scholarship in Korea for foreigners so why don't you give it a try!
 
Duration of the Scholarship
  • Master’s (01.09.2012 ~ 31.08.2015) : 1 yr. of Korean language + 2 yrs of Master’s
  • Doctoral (01.09.2012 ~ 31.08.2016) : 1 yr. of Korean language + 3 yrs of Doctoral
 
Benefits
 
     
  • Monthly Allowance : 900,000 won (KRW) per month.
  • Research Allowance : 210,000 won for scholars in the humanities and social sciences; 240,000 won for scholars in natural and mechanic sciences, per semester.
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance : 200,000 won upon arrival
  • Language Training Fee : Full coverage
  • Tuition : All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university). The tuition is paid by NIIED.
  • Dissertation Printing Costs : 500,000 ~ 800,000 won, depending on the actual costs.
  • Medical Insurance : 20,000 won per month will be provided (limited coverage).
  • Special funding for scholars who are proficient in the Korean language (TOPIK Level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month (commencing from the degree program)
 
Requirements
  1. The applicant and his/her parents must have foreign citizenship.
  2. Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for an extended period of time.
  3. Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2012 (born after Sep. 1st, 1972).
  4. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Masters degree as of September 1, 2012.
  5. Applicants must maintain a grade point average (G.P.A.) of at least 2.64 on a 4.0 scale, 2.80 on a 4. 3 scale, 2.91 on a 4.5 scale, or grades/marks/score of 80% or higher from the previously attended institution.
  6. Applicants who have Korean proficiency or English proficiency may be given preference.
  7. Applicants who apply for natural science and technology program may be given preference.

Eligibility:
  1.  As a student, you must apply directly from your home country.
  2. You must have stayed at least one year in your home country directly prior to the planned course of study at the Norwegian university /university college.
  3.  Students usually apply for degree programmes that serve as a continuation of their studies in their home country or for courses which can be a joint part of a degree programme in their home country (joint degree or sandwich programmes).
  4.  Most of the programmes offered are at Master’s or PhD level, but the Quota Scheme also offers certain Bachelor’s study programmes.
  5.  All candidates should typically have the following basic qualifications:

  7. Minimum two years of higher education from their home country

Scholarship is Opened for Students of Developing Countries


Scholarship Description: The main objective of the Quota Scheme is to contribute to capacity building through education that will benefit the home country of the students when they return. The Quota Scheme is also intended to strengthen relations between Norway and the selected countries and thus contribute to internationalisation at Norwegian institutions of higher education. Most universities and university colleges in Norway participate in the Quota scheme. The institutions involved are allocated a certain number of students under the programme each year. The scheme normally includes courses at Master’s and Ph.D. level in addition to certain professional/Bachelor’s degrees. Most of the Norwegian institutions offer courses and educational programmes in English.

2012 JOURNALISM FELLOWSHIP – SOUTHEAST ASIA

"Documenting threats to the rivers of Southeast Asia: Looking through the journalists’ lens"


Greetings from the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA)!


We are now accepting applications to our 2012 Journalism Fellowship Programme. The programme, now in its 11th year, is open to nationals of Southeast Asian countries who are interested in exploring and producing in-depth stories on cross-border or regional issues on the theme of environmental protection, focusing on the rivers of Southeast Asia and the lives that depend on them.

SEAPA is a regional network of free expression groups campaigning for genuine press freedom in Southeast Asia. Established in Bangkok in November 1998, it aims to unite independent journalists’ and press-related organizations in the region into a force for advocacy and mutual protection.

Our program is unique as it is specially designed for the needs of journalists in the region – for journalists from Southeast Asia, with themes and field assignments within the region. Be part of the group that will have the opportunity to spend up to three weeks in another country in the region to explore the stories you want.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be working journalists from Southeast Asian countries (see below) with at least 5 years experience in writing for print, broadcast or online media, either as staff or freelance writers:

Applicants must demonstrate experience writing in-depth stories on social, political or economic issues in their countries. (Submit at least 2 samples)

Deadline: All application forms and supporting documents must reach SEAPA office via email or post before 17:00 p.m., 31st March 2012. Late applications will not be considered.

Applicants who have demonstrated interest in social, political, economic, environment, investigative journalism will have an advantage.
Women are encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants must submit 2 samples of their articles from the last 6 months. For articles written in other languages than English, kindly submit a translated version in English. Please submit your sample work together with the application forms.

All program content and communication will be conducted in English in order to facilitate discussions and sharing as best as possible.

3. Story proposal not in line with the theme

ITPP Selection of Students for 2O12 Fall

ITPP, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy, offers a customized master's and doctoral degree program for government officials, employees of public institutions or senior-level researchers at national research centers working in the IT fields of foreign countries. All the students will receive scholarships, up to 2 years for master's students and up to 3 years for doctorate students.


Qualifications of Applicants
  1. IT related government officials or Senior-level researchers at National Research Centers working in the IT related fields.
  2. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in the IT- related area (an applicant for Ph.D should hold Master's degree, Master's should hold Bachelor's degree)
